Things To Consider When Buying A New Washer

Let’s face it we all love to shop, Right? Much of our free time is spent shopping for clothes, groceries, and other fun stuff. Once in a while, we have to spend some time appliance shopping. This is not nearly as fun since there are so many things to be considered before making such a major purchase. One of those appliances is a washer. Unfortunately, a washer is one of those time saving appliances we all need in our day to day lives. In today’s market washer have become much advanced. There are so many styles, makes, and models available today. This post will hopefully help you figure out what type of washer will be the right choice for your family. If you need it, visit our laundromat in Raleigh NC!

Let’s first look at the various styles of washers. You will soon find that things have changed with today’s washers. There is the traditional top loader style washer that has been available for many years here in the US. This type of washer is generally your least expensive option. It is also the much less energy efficient style.

The newer front loading washers come with all the luxury’s you could want or need in a washer. The biggest drawback is that you will want a pedestal to place it on particularly if you are shorter in stature. These will cause back strain from bending over so much to load the wet laundry into the dryer. These machines, however, are the most energy efficient of all. They are more expensive than their counterpart.

No matter which type you pick there are some features you will not want to compromise on. The water level is one of these. The option for small, medium, and large size loads is a great feature to have. Water temperatures settings are also great as a way to take care of your clothing. Settings for delicates, permanent press, and casual wear are good. Some of today’ s washers also offer steam, delay wash, pre-soak cycles and extra rinse cycles.

Another consideration to look at is the amount of space you have for a laundry room or laundry area. If you are looking for the ability to do as much laundry per load as possible keep in mind that bigger load capacities mean a larger machine as well. Sometimes as much as two to three inches in width. This becomes really important depending on the space you have to work with. Measure your space allowing for at least six inches between the washer and the water hookups behind it. You will also need space for an inch between your washer and dryer. Make certain that you can get the new washer through any door openings in your home. If you have a smaller space a stackable unit is one you can consider. Again we recommend measuring to make certain you have the proper amount of room. If the washer will be placed near a living area such as bedrooms, kitchens, or living rooms noise will become an issue. Check out the vibrations scores on the unit you are considering.
